We have lived in four states, two time zones, five area codes, and i have traveled enough to be held in high regards with Marriott & Holiday Inn.
We have three children born in 3 different states. We have been a part of institutional churches and an organic church in those areas. We have come to know and see Christ mostly through being with others who know and see Him.
Our most resent journey has been a whirlwind of 45 nights in a hotel to having movers pack and drop off all of our belongings. Today while taking a break from the chaos in our house I started thinking about our unpacking and the strategy behind it. I was reminded of our family journey together in the Lord.
See as a Christ follower we are part of a body that has a head who is Jesus Christ the maker of the known and unknown universe. As a Christ follower we are a moving part of something much larger than our own thoughts & ideas. As a Christ follower we are all bound together by an unbreakable bond called the Holy Spirit which is Christ. As a Christ follower we all have been gifted to minister to others not as we see fit but as the Lord himself allows. As a Christ follower we are a tiny reflection that needs others around who are reflecting the portion that is Christ in them.
All of this is very similar to unpacking. See all my family really needs is boxed up in our new residence. One person would have taken weeks to unpack and organize our things. Together my wife and I will have this done in large portions in two days. When you sit in a pew you may never unpack all of the Lord inside of you and even if you did unfold the top of the box and dig in you may never get through the chaos. The best way to unpack Christ in you is through others, loving them in Christ, living with them in Christ, and working with them in Christ.
The Lord is so big unpacking the richness that He is will take an eternity to unpack and it's really all We have to do Saints.
